blogity blog, blog, blog

I'm now marrying Ben of the toe incident and hiking along the canyon. If you want to find my personal blog, this isn't it, violarulz.xanga.com is. If you want to find my wedding planning blog, here it is: ducksandbooks.com. Please, comment on any of them (sorry if you're not xanga member, but I've been blogging there since HS and it just feels kinda homey).

what to do, what to do?
So an ex of mine got married in November and I mailed them a present some time around then (the week after the wedding), and I still haven't gotten a thankyou note from them. I DID get an x-mass card, hand written by his wife, but no mention of the gift. Do I ask if they ever got it? It wasn't expensive, but I'm still concerned. Did the post office eat a giant skillet that was in a heavy, cardboard box wrapped in inside-outed paperbags and addressed in sharpie? It wasn't returned so they either got it and never acknowledged it, they never got it, or the thank you note has been lost in the mail (not impossible). I dunno. I'm home with cramps, curled up on the couch and still wearing my PJs.

If you're wondering why you never hear from me on this blog it's because I've got 2 others I use. I just wanted to vent this where I doubted this ex of mine would ever read it. My other pages (with the same user name as this one) are on xanga,a social site, and SparkPeople, a diet/healthy weight loss site.

If you REALLY want to spy on me, my website is still up and running (for the moment anyway) at violarulz.com.

more adventures in Deenlandia
Sunday night was spent in the hospital. I went to give Ben a hug and caught my toe nail on the treads of his shoes and... yeah. It came off. Gross. The ER doc was really nice and I'm hoping that the podiatrist is just as nice on Thursday. The Percocet is making me loopy and I'm hungry. TTYL.

adventure
What a geat weekend (so far anyway, tomorrow is all practice and cooking/cleaning). Friday night was Shabbos dinner at BKS's appartment with Hillel buddies. He's such a good cook! Then we went to Har Hashem (Boulder's Reform congrigation) and sang really loud NFTY (national youth group) tunes over the old farts at the service. It made the cantor smile. BKS also answered all the questions she asked after the Torah reading if no one else could. He's got such a big, juicy, spicy brain.... *sniffing wafts of spices*

This afternoon we went up to Nederland. It was BEAUTIFUL! We stopped in Boulder Canyon to look at the falls and then went and wandered the little stores and had yummy, yummy Napalise food at Katmandu.

*sigh*

Oh, if you're in Boulder you're invited to break-the-fast after Yom Kippur at my palce on Monday night at 8:30.

update on life
Josh, AKA Mr. JDate/4th of july is totally into Becca. Oh well. Sunday will either be RenFest or Ladysmith Black Mambazo with a handpicked gentleman from craigslist (I posted). Yep.

I bought an AC, power screwdriver, and the wood/brackets/screws to build a shelf for the AC since my window has no sill and opens OUT.

I'm failing Spanish, but getting As in all my other classes.

My ipod died. But, the little sad ipod is kinda cute.

I got a freelance job as fact checker/making sure the prof's citations are correct. I'm actually enjoying it. I'm a dork. Maybe I should be a librarian too... I seem to think I'll have trouble finding something and then find it faster than they do. If there were a such think as duling librarians and I entered the contest, I'd bet money on myself. Dude, I rock. I find found all but one of THE worst citations ever. Other than that, I'm done. Which makes me sad. I liked this job, but it's kept me from doing other things that should be done (Spanish homework, viola practicing, turing in books to the public libary, shoping at the farmers market).

Oh, and I'm addicted to novels again, and feel like I need a cuddle buddy.

poor little guy!
I saw a little baby bird next to the sidewalk today. It was hopping around and flapping it's fluffy wings and couldn't fly. I watched it for about 10 minutes before I called the county animal rescue line. They told me not to touch it and that it would either be fed by it's parents, taken back to the nest or die. That made me sad, but I had to get back to work. There was a girl chatting on her phone and sunbathing not too far away and I asked her to keep an eye on the bird because I didn't want anyone to step on it. 3 hours later, on my way home from work, I walked by where the baby bird was and I didn't see it. Then I looked closer, it was dead and curled into a little ball with it's head tucked in and it's feet sticking out from it's tucked in little legs. Poor, little baby bird!

But you're also powerful enough to make things happen for yourself.

You understand how the world works, even when it's an ugly place.

You just don't get ugly yourself - unless you have to!

Friend of Dorothy
You scored 145 Support, 0 Disapprove, and 0 Indifference!
You are one of the following: a card-carrying member of PFLAG, a non-self loathing GLBT person, or just a really progressive and open-minded individual regarding the GLBT community. Any of the aforementioned classifications makes you an honorary Friend of Dorothy!

You are proud to be “off to see the Wizard;” in this case “the Wizard” being a metaphor for Equality, Civil Liberty and Human Rights. Dorothy is a metaphor for the catalyst of change and of breaking away from archaic teachings that have become a noose of inequality and social suffering to the underprivileged.

Okay, you probably don’t think about it in those exact terms. Regardless, you are comfortable and self-assured in your own sexuality. You fully support other people’s ability to enjoy civil freedoms that should be their birthright regardless of sexual orientation. You oppose closed-mindedness and, in your own way, combat ignorance and intolerance in all of their many ugly forms.

To use an old cliché; you are fabulous!

going to Asia!!!!!! Thaland to visit mom, China to be a tourist

Give me money and e-mail me your snail mail address if you'd like me to buy anything for you while I'm there. I'll be going to lots of Thai factory stores in northern Thailand where they make sushi sets, china, pottery, asian lacquer boxes, decorative fans and umbrellas, silk, batik, and all sorts of wonderful bootleg DVDs and CDs. I'll also be going to Beijing as a tourist and can look for cheaper than water (at least there) electronics and stuff for you. I myself will be in the market for a minidisk player and a decent microphone.

I don't wanna!
I feel like stomping my feet and jumping up and down in protest of school right now. Why do I ALWAYS procrastinate? I've got an 8-10 page draft on Suzuki's Mother Tongue Approach and a 2-4 pager on Stravinsky's Rite of Spring BOTH due tomorrow!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Plus, I'm going to have to take my geology final early because I'll be in Denver playing the Britten War Requiem during the final.
